CMS Prolonged Services - Coding, Documentation and Reimbursement
Course Description:
With all the changes that have occurred with E/M services in the last 4 years, the CPT® codes for prolonged services have also changed. There are many misconceptions and unknowns of when these codes are applicable, and when they are not being used, revenue for time spent is lost. This session will discuss the ins and outs of the prolonged services available for inpatient, outpatient, and office visits. These are timed codes, so they cannot be used if medical decision making, but in the cases when an exorbitant of time is spent on a patient encounter, it is important that the provider is paid for their time and services.

About the Presenter:
Lynn Anderanin, CPC, CPB, CPMA,CPC-I, CPPM COSC, is a Coding Compliance Manager. She has over 40 years experience in all areas of the physician practice including Practice Administrator, Billing Manager, and Director of Operations. Her experience is primarily in the specialties of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, and Hematology/Oncology. She has been a speaker for many conferences, including the AAPC National Conferences and Workshops, Community Colleges, Audio Conferences, and Webinars. Lynn is the founder of the first local Chapter of the AAPC in Chicago, which is now 29 years old, and a former member of the AAPC National Advisory Board as well as several other Committees for the AAPC.
